Qualcomm has confirmed that they’re collaborating with the Redmond giant to make Snapdragon 800 processor support Windows RT 8.1. Windows RT is Microsoft’s Windows variant built for ARM-based chip, which the Qualcomm Snapdragon CPUs are based on.
The Snapdragon 800 is the most powerful processor Qualcomm currently offers that comes with multimode 3G/LTE modem, quad-core support with each core going up to 2.2GHz, USB 3.0 along with various Windows 8.1-centric features support.
Currently, Qualcomm is exhibiting early devices running Windows RT 8.1 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 at the Computex in Taiwan but retail devices are expected later this year.
