ARM at the Computex 2013 announced a new ARM Cortex-A processor and Mali GPU that will cater to the mid-range devices. For the next couple of years, ARM expects their new Cortex-A12 and Mali-T622 will find a home in almost 580 million devices, including mobile phones and tablets.
The Cortex-A12 processor offers a 40 percent performance boost compared to the Cortex-A9 chip and is more power efficient thanks to the big.LITTLE implementation that is only found in Cortex-A15 till now. The Mali-T622 from the T600 series supports the OpenGL ES 3.0, Renderscript and OpenCL APIs and offers superior graphics performance while consuming 50 percent less power than the previous generation T600 series GPUs.
