Archos known for its media players has delved into the mobile phone market with a trio of Android phones. Archos says the phones are certified by Google and offer pure Google experience at an affordable price.
The Archos 35 Carbon is the entry-level device that features dual-SIM connectivity, Qualcomm 7225A 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM. Additionally the 35 Carbon will have Android 4.0 OS, 3.5-inch HVGA screen, microSD card slot, VGA camera (front and back), GPS and 1300mAh battery. The phone will sell for $99.99.
Archos’ other phones hail from the Platinum series that consists of 50 Platinum and 53 Platinum. The 50 Platinum phone is again a dual-SIM device that runs Android 4.1.2 OS is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz quad-core 8225Q processor. It has 1GB of RAM, 5-inch qHD IPS display, 8MP main camera with 2MP front, FM Radio, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and 2000mAh battery. The 50 Platinum will cost $219.99.
The 53 Platinum is the top of the tier device for Archos but is spec’d similarly to the 50 Platinum. The different features from the 50 Platinum are the screen size, which has been upped to 5.3-inch with the same qHD resolution and larger 2800mAh battery. 53 Platinum is priced at $249.99.
The phones will be available in Europe from next month.
