Lenovo will step up in the application processor arena with a chip of their own, reports EE Times. The website claims Lenovo is on a hiring spree and aims to expand its IC design team to about 100 engineers by first half of this year.
The chip that will be designed will emphasise on mobile devices after Samsung reportedly turned down Lenovo’s request to provide the latest Exynos chips.
Lenovo smartphones are powered by chips from various vendors. For instance, Lenovo’s A60 is powered by a MediaTek AP whereas the K860 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos SoC.
