Larry Page, Google CEO has confirmed that Andy Rubin who was leading the Android project since the inception has stepped down. Although unclear, Andy will take up some other project, which according to Google will “start a new chapter” at the company.
Furthermore, Sundar Pichai, the man behind Chrome has been named as the one to lead the Android project from now on. We’re not sure what new things Sundar will bring to the table but we hope it could mean some sort of convergence between the Chrome OS and the Android OS.
Google expects to reveal more Android innovations at the Google I/O 2013 in May this year.
