5-inch display found on the Galaxy Note appealed to a lot of consumers but its price was a hindrance to consumers limited by strict budget. To cater to such user base, Samsung has announced the mid-range Galaxy Grand – a Jelly Bean Android 4.1.2 running device with a 5-inch display. Admittedly, the WVGA resolution is not worth boasting about but Samsung tries to take advantage of the big screen by integrating Multi-Window support that allows to use two apps simultaneously.
On the hardware side, the phone is decently packed with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal memory, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 2100mAh battery.
There’s also S Voice, AllShare Play, Direct Call, Smart Alert, Popup Play and various Hubs.
Samsung hasn’t shed any details on the pricing or the availability but Samsung has confirmed to sell Galaxy Grand in single-SIM (I9080) and dual-SIM variants (I9082).
