Seagate has announced a new hard drive that is designed specifically for digital video recorders (DVRs), set-top boxes (STBs) and surveillance applications. The Video 2.5 HDD is a 2.5-inch 500GB hard drive and boasts high reliability with an annual failure rate of 0.55 and capability of operating 24/7; silent operation that is said to be below the audible range of human ear; and is power efficient by 55 percent compared to a 3.5-inch offering.
