Cisco’s recently announced Smart Wi-Fi routers boast some interesting features but the fact that users had to signup for the Cisco Connect Cloud service to use all the features, irked many users. On the company blog, Cisco announced some important changes to their Cisco Connect Cloud service.
First and foremost is that the service has been made optional and if users want to, they can opt-out and manage their EA Series routers via conventional web interface. Cisco also came clean with respect to the data collection saying their “routers do not monitor or store information” and retains information that is “necessary to sign up for and support the Cisco Connect Cloud service.”
