Plantronics Voyager PRO HD Review

Bluetooth hands-free devices are available aplenty but companies like Plantronics are innovating to differentiate their Bluetooth offerings. Case in point is the Voyager PRO HD.

Design:

The Voyager PRO HD has a simple yet stylish design. The headset can be worn on either ear, thanks to a rotatable mic boom and features few buttons – +/- volume buttons, Power button, a button to receive/end calls and a microUSB port. Voyager PRO HD also comes with Smart Sensor that opens a unique way of interacting with the user.

Performance:

The headset works with a range of devices and is fairly easy to connect to. In fact, you can connect the headset to two different devices simultaneously. Once connected, a user will be greeted with an on-screen battery meter, if you’re on an iOS or an Android phone.

Smart Sensor is Voyager PRO HD’s USP, which detects if the headset is worn or not. For instance, Voyager PRO HD automatically receives an incoming call when a user wears it on the ear or activates the loudspeaker during a call if the headset is removed.

As far as audio quality goes, it is topnotch. The headset delivers crisp and clear audio quality that works in conjunction with the noise cancellation and three layers of wind reduction tech.

Voyager PRO HD scores on the comfort level too. The headset is comfortable to wear for longer durations and bundles couple of extra buds with different sizes.

Plantronics also spruces up the offering with integration of voice alerts that blurt out the talk time, volume, connection status and MyHeadset and Vocalyst app support. MyHeadset is downloadable for free from the Google Play Store that shows how to connect the headset along with its features. MyHeadset also allows to record audio messages that can be emailed or uploaded Facebook, Evernote or other services. Vocalyst on the other hand, expands the functionality of MyHeadset with more voice-centric features like posting to Facebook, listening to an email or SMS and a lot more. Vocalyst is free to use for the first year but needs monthly subscription after that.

Battery Life:

Battery life is also an important factor when it comes to wireless headsets. In our test, Voyager Pro HD gave a talk time of around 5 hours and clocking under a day with standby.

Verdict:
Plantronics Voyager PRO HD goes for Rs. 4,599 on Flipkart and although it may feel a bit pricey to some, the asking price is worth it considering it gives HD audio streaming, multipoint support, voice commands and most importantly, an ergonomic design.

Rating:
Pros: Stylish and comfortable design, Smart Sensor
Cons: Vocalyst is a premium service
