Zync may not be a globally recognized brand but the company is trying best to strengthen its foothold in the burgeoning tablet market in India. Today they launched their first tablet running Android’s latest Ice Cream Sandwich OS – Zync Z-990.
Priced at just Rs. 8,990, Zync Z-990 sports a 7-inch display with WVGA resolution (800×480) and is powered by a single-core 1.2GHz processor. Furthermore, it comes with a front-facing VGA camera, Wi-Fi, 4GB internal memory, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory, 3G support via external USB dongle, microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI, a USB 2.0 port and 3600mAh battery.
We also played briefly with the tablet and the first impression was satisfactory. The build quality is ok whereas ICS on the tablet seemed fluid but comes with a major caveat of not being optimized when using in portrait mode.
We’ll put the tablet through the paces in the coming days to see if its worth the asking price. In the meantime, enjoy some hands-on pictures.
