Samsung has been selling rugged phones under its Xcover brand but the phones sold till now were feature phones. However, it will change with today’s introduction of Galaxy Xcover. It is Samsung’s first phone that runs on Android OS and at the same time protects the phone in extreme conditions. The Galaxy Xcover — as it is known — is certified by IP67 standard that assures to withstand dust, drops and water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes.
On the hardware front, the phone features a 3.65-inch scratch-resistant touchscreen display, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 3.2MP camera with LED flash that doubles up as a flashlight, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth and more.
Samsung hasn’t revealed the price but it will reach most European countries in October.
