In addition to the Kindle, if users wanted to read a Kindle book on any other device, they had to download a dedicated Kindle app for the said device. However, with Amazon’s latest initiative – Cloud Reader, Amazon has removed that barrier as users can read the same books via their web browsers. In short, there’s no need to download anything, just point your device’s web browser to the Cloud Reader URL and start reading the Kindle book where you left off. Cloud Reader takes advantage of HTML5 and also allows for offline reading, enabling download of books and reading them even when not connected to the internet.
Cloud Reader currently supports Chrome and Safari browsers (iPad included) but Amazon has promised to extend it to other browsers as well in the coming months.
