Research in Motion today announced some major decisions related to its management and its workforce. To streamline its operations, RIM has brought some management changes like Thorsten Heins to head the new combined hardware and software engineering teams while Robin Bienfait to take on the responsibility of Enterprise Business Unit etc.
A major impact however, will be felt by employees globally. Under the Cost Optimization Program, RIM will cut their workforce by 2,000 employees. It’s a global move and employees facing the axe in different countries will be notified by this week.
RIM says this optimization program will help them to eliminate redundancy and allocate resources on areas with better growth opportunities.
