Huawei today did a major product unveiling in Singapore just before CommunicAsia. The product unveiled is the MediaPad which is a 7-inch tablet running Google’s announced Android 3.2 OS and is in fact the lightest and the slimmest Huawei tablet. Hardware-wise, MediaPad packs in decent innards with Qualcomm dual-core 1.2GHz CPU powering the unit and boasts Huawei’s new Hispace cloud solution.
Additionally, the tablet is equipped with an IPS panel for better picture quality, 1080p HD video playback, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 5MP auto focus back-facing camera with 720p HD recording support, HSPA+ support, 8GB internal storage with microSD card slot, Wi-Fi and is pre-loaded with social networking apps for Facebook and Twitter.
Huawei initially plans to launch Wi-Fi-only models in Q3 2011.
