Google wants you to use the NFC chip in your phones, which is why they’ve announced the Google Wallet today. Google Wallet is a mobile app that will allow users to transact with the help of stored credit cards, gift cards, loyalty cards etc in the phone.
Google Wallet currently supports Citi MasterCard and its own Google Prepaid Card that can be topped up with any other payment card. Users will be able to tap their phones with Google Wallet at MasterCard PayPass accepted outlets or transact via NFC with SingleTap merchants.
The Google Wallet currently works only with Sprint’s Nexus S 4G but will support other phones soon.
