After years of brand building and when consumers related Ovi as a brand of Nokia, the Finnish giant pulls the plug from the Ovi name. They’ve announced that they’ll drop the Ovi name and the Ovi branded services will now be known as Nokia services.
Nokia’s EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Jerri DeVard says the reason for this decision is that Nokia is a well-known and highly-loved brand the world over and with the tight integration of the services, there will no longer be a differentiation.
Devices launching in July and August will bear the new Nokia services branding whereas existing devices will get the brand change after a software update.
