Hacking woes at Sony are far from over. Sony today announced that their engineers have detected an illegal intrusion in Sony Online Investigation systems. The intrusion also resulted in a massive data theft, which according to Sony and security consultants’ estimate, 24.6 million accounts including an outdated data database from 2007 have been stolen.
The outdated data also includes 12,700 non-U.S. credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates (luckily no credit card security (CVC) codes) and about 10,700 direct debit records of customers in Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Spain.
The personal information that was stolen amongst 24.6m SOE accounts are as follows:
name
address
e-mail address
birthdate
gender
phone number
login name
hashed password
The data stolen from 10,700 direct debit records include:
bank account number
customer name
account name
customer address
