Son Ericsson’s PlayStation Phone aka Xperia Play has finally been acknowledged at the Mobile World Congress. The Xperia Play will be the latest device in the Xperia range but will be targeted at gamers with its gaming prowess and integrated PlayStation controls like a D Pad, two analogue touch pads, shoulder buttons and four PS icons.
Xperia Play will be powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and will be the first phone to be PlayStation certified, which means the phone will have access to PlayStation game content through the PlayStation Suite. Xperia Play will also support multiplayer gaming and have about 50 gaming titles at launch.
On the hardware front, the phone features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Adreno graphics, 4-inch 480 x 854 pixels (FWVGA) display, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot.
The phone will be available in black and white from March 2011 in selected markets.
