Airtel 3G network goes live in Karnataka, plans start from Rs. 9

Airtel today commenced its 3G operations in Karnataka. Karnataka is Airtel’s largest circle by revenue so it’s understandable why Airtel chose to launch their services in the southern state first. However, Airtel has confirmed to launch its 3G operations in rest of the 13 3G license circles by March 2011.

Airtel has segregated its plans on the basis of time-based where the user will be billed by hour and flexi-shield where the usage will be capped.

Airtel will also send timely usage alerts to their 3G users so as to prevent “bill shocks.”
