Amazon has introduced a beta version of the “Kindle for the Web” which allows users to discover new books and authors easily, without leaving their web browser. Kindle for the Web works by authors and website publishers embedding the first chapter of a book. Consumers can read the chapter for free and if interested, they can buy the book from Amazon to be delivered on their Kindle device.
Amazon has confirmed that Kindle for the Web will be expanded in the future to support mobile browsers as well.
The US Kindle Store currently offers more than 700,000 books with most books priced at $9.99 or less.
