Oracle yesterday announced that HP’s ex-CEO Mark Hurd will join the company as co-president and director. While this news brought cheers to Oracle and its investors, HP is quite unhappy about it and has dragged Hurd to the court. HP has filed a complaint Superior Court in Santa Clara County claiming that Hurd’s position in Oracle would expose HP’s trade secrets and would give Oracle “a strategic advantage as to where to allocate or not allocate resources and exploit the knowledge of HP’s strengths and weaknesses.”
Although Hurd’s separation package did not include a non-compete provision but it is claimed that it did include in a two-year confidentiality pact.
Hurd’s exit package is estimated at $34.6 million.
