Oracle has filed a lawsuit against Google because it’s open-source system is infringing Java-related patents. Oracle claims Android infringes seven of its patents because the OS’ stack integrates Java-based object-oriented application framework and core libraries.
Oracle who bought Sun Microsystems early this year also alleges that due to the recruitment of former Sun Java engineers, Google is aware of Sun’s patent portfolio and its issues since 2005.
Google “knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle’s Java-related intellectual property…this lawsuit seeks appropriate remedies,” said Oracle spokesperson.
