Sony Ericsson’s PSP phone will come out this year, run Android 3.0

The existence of Sony Ericsson’s PSP phone has been a mystery but Engadget’s “trusted source” claim the phone exists and is “pretty damn sexy.” Going by the description, the PSP phone will be a very serious entry from Sony Ericsson that will go head to head with Apple’s iPhone.

Interestingly, Sony Ericsson will adopt Android OS and will run OS 3.0 aka the Gingerbread. The OS is just the tip of the iceberg because it is the hardware that is more exciting. According to the source, the gaming phone will possess a sliding form factor where the D-pad along with other PSP buttons will be placed under the big touchscreen display. The display is said to be in between 3.7 and 4.1-inches with at least WVGA resolution and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU.

As for the release date, its rumored to be in October, which I think makes sense if SE wants to cash in on the holiday sales.
