WD has announced a new multimedia drive that makes perfect sense for those who don’t own an extra HDD to hook with devices like WD TV to enjoy multimedia content on the idiot box. The WD Elements Play is similar to WD TV HD but comes with an integrated HDD that can store up to 2TB of data. Another good thing is that the device supports the same vast codec support like WD TV HD, including the RMVB, MKV etc.
Additionally, WD Elements Play supports full HD resolution playback, USB port to expand storage, digital optical audio and plug-and-play compatibility with digital cameras and camcorder. The only thing we miss is the wireless connectivity.
No word on the price or availability but it’s rumored to carry a price tag of around $200.
