UPDATE: Motorola contacted us today to clarify the phone prices. The price mentioned below is Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and have announced a Recommended Retail Price (RRP). The RRP of Milestone XT720 is Rs. 27,490 and Backflip’s RRP is Rs. 19,490.

Motorola has tripled its Android phone tally for the Indian market with the launch of two new handsets. The total count is now at three with Motorola bring new Android additions in the form of Milestone XT720 and Backflip. XT720 is the sleekest 8MP Android device that comes with lots of features in a thin 10.9mm shell. Powered by Android 2.1, the XT720 features an 8MP camera with Xenon flash, 720p HD video recording support, HDMI-out (HDMI cable included), 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display (480×854), 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM Radio, Google services support and microSD card slot (8GB card bundled). Another good thing is that the phone is pre-loaded with maps supporting lifetime navigation from MapmyIndia.

Milestone XT720 will sell at Rs. 34,990.

Backflip is a cheaper Android device from the Motorola portfolio featuring has a unique design. It has a reverse-flip QWERTY keyboard and a Backtrack touch panel, placed behind the screen that works similarly to a laptop’s trackpad. The Android running Backflip features a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen display, 3G support, 5MP camera with LED flash, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microSD card slot (2GB bundled).

The phone comes with Android 1.5 but Motorola says it will be upgradeable to Android 2.1. Its priced at Rs. 23,000, which is a bit expensive, if you ask me.

We’ve got some hands-on pictures of Backflip from the CES that also won the 2010 CNET Best of CES award.
