Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 concentrates on performance at low price

UPDATE: The Indian prices for the GTX 460 are: 768MB – Rs. 13,129; 1GB – Rs. 15,049.

Nvidia has unveiled a new GeForce GPU aimed at gamers with a limited budget. The GTX460 promises to give outstanding DirectX11 performance at an affordable price of $199.

Nvidia says the GPU has been built from scratch and is optimized for DX11 tessellation feature. Tessellation is a method of breaking down polygons into finer pieces and when compared to other GPUs, the GTX 460 can deliver up to 4x better tessellation performance. It also supports Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology.

The GTX 460 with 768MB 192-bit memory is available from today for $199 whereas the 1GB 256-bit memory variant will go on sale by July 26 for $229.
