Sony is already onboard the Google TV initiative and now South Korea’s LG Electronics is also looking to hop on the Google TV train. However, there’s one glitch — LG is wary about adopting it because Google could dominate the software space and LG doesn’t want to remain a mere hardware provider.
“Google TV could spark strong interest in the market, but the reason we are deliberating is because Google may one day dominate the software space and we don’t want to end up as just a hardware provider,” Simon Kang, chief executive of LG Electronics’ Home Entertainment Company.
LG is weighing its options against its own Netcast service that allows to watch online videos, make Skype calls etc.
