To mark Toshiba’s 25 years of business in the portable PC market, they have announced the world’s first dual touchscreen ultraportable PC and an internet-centric “cloudbook”. Both the products along with few other notebooks will go on sale from June 25 in Japan.
The dual touchscreen computer is known as Libretto W100 and features two 7-inch touchscreen LCDs supporting WSVGA (1024×600) resolution that transforms the lower screen into a keyboard or an e-book reader when held vertically.
W100 weighs just 699 grams and is powered by 1.2GHz U5400 CULV processor, 62GB SSD, 2GB RAM, WiMAX, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 1.02 megapixel camera and Windows 7 Home Premium OS. It will retail for around 120,000 yen.
Toshiba also introduced dynabook AZ netbook running Android 2.1 OS powered by Nvidia Tegra 250 SoC clocked at 1GHz. Its specs sheet include 10.1-inch WSVGA screen, 16GB Flash memory, 512MB RAM, 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth and HDMI-out. It will sell for 40,000 yen.
