As was rumored, Sony’s teased VAIO Ultra Mobile PC turns out to be an updated VAIO P. The new VAIO P now comes with a redone design and new colors to attract the young crowd. VAIO P’s (VPCP119KJ) base configuration includes 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 8-inch (1600×768) display, 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth, webcam, memory card reader and optional WiMAX.
Additionally, Sony will also sell another model (VPCP11AKJ) that can be configured to use Intel’s Z530/Z550/Z560 CPU, 2GB RAM, options of 64/128/256GB SSD, same 8-inch display, memory card reader and integrated webcam.
The new Sony VAIO Ps come with a trackpad and buttons on the sides of the LCD for “grip style computing”, accelerometer to use the display vertically or horizontally and supports PS3 Remote Play.
It will be released on May 22 starting with a price of 100,000 yen ($1080).
