The greatest and the mightiest rumormonger from Taiwan has spoken. This time it’s about Microsoft. Microsoft is allegedly planning to launch Windows Mobile 6.6 (codenamed Maldives) in Feb 2010, which also happens to be the month of MWC. Digitimes says the move is to combat the onslaught of Android-based devices and iPhone, also helping to spur the sales of WinMo devices that has been stagnant since arrival of WinMo 6.5 in Q4 2009.
Meanwhile, Digitimes’ source further claims that Microsoft will delay the launch of WinMo 7 to next year instead of the planned late 2010 date. However, it’s not confirmed if Microsoft will showcase the OS or not.
