SanDisk’s much touted X4 flash tech equipped memory cards are now shipping. The technology allows a memory card to hold 4-bits of data in each cell, twice as compared to a MLC based NAND memory chip.
The X4 based cards are processed by 43nm technology with 64-gigabit NAND flash chip, making it the highest-density single-die memory to enter into production. SanDisk has not revealed the exact pricing but will be shipping 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards and 8GB and 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo cards using X4 technology.
