Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader has finally gone international and will be available in over 100 countries (including India) from October 19. The international version is priced at $279 and comes pre-loaded with an AT&T SIM so as to allow users download content via Whispersync. As for the features, the global version is the same as Kindle for US which includes a 6-inch e-ink display, capacity to hold around 1,500 books, Text-to-speech, dictionary and a battery life of up to 4-5 days.
Amazon also decided to reduce the price of Kindle that works only in US. It will now be sold for $259, $40 less than its previous price tag.

This is great news for the rest of the world. I have had my Kindle for the past three years and I truly can’t live without it. I love to read and it’s just such a comfortable way to enjoy a book. It’s great that this will work in other countries as well. Here’s hoping that Amazon finds a way to capture this market similar to the way the Apple was able to do it with iTunes.
