NTT DOCOMO today announced that they’ve created a phone prototype made with the surplus wood. From the Shimanto jungle, NTT DOCOMO picked up the wood that was culled during forest-thinning operation and crafted it into a phone with Sharp and Olympus giving a helping hand. Since the natural wood tends to wear off over time, a special three-dimensional compression molding has been applied to enhance its durability and make it resistant from water, insects and decay.
The phone will exhibited at ITU Telecom World 2009 in Switzerland and CEATEC 2009 in Japan.
