It was on the cards. Apple has released iTunes 8.2.1 that fixes some bugs but more importantly clamps down support for non-Apple devices like Palm Pre.
“iTunes 8.2.1 is a free software update that provides a number of important bug fixes. It also disables devices falsely pretending to be iPods, including the Palm Pre. As we’ve said before, newer versions of iTunes may no longer provide syncing functionality with unsupported digital media players,” said Apple spokesman, Tom Neumayr.
Unfortunate Pre users craving for the Sync can hold on to versions older than v8.2 or check out this article to download some third-party apps that are able to access the iTunes library.
