Microsoft has released the full pricing details of Windows 7 that will make its way out on October 22. Windows 7 will basically be up for grabs in three ways – by way of preorder, upgrade and full retail version.

The preorder is the best option if you’re desperately looking for an upgrade to Win 7. Microsoft will be selling Home Premium and Professional versions at a very low cost but will vary according to the region. However, Windows 7 Ultimate is not a part of this preorder. The pricing of Windows 7 preorder is as follows:

US: Windows 7 Home Premium ($49.99) and Windows 7 Professional ($99.99)
Canada: Windows 7 Home Premium ($64.99) and Windows 7 Professional ($124.99)
Japan: Windows 7 Home Premium (¥7,407) and Windows 7 Professional (¥14,073)
UK: Windows 7 Home Premium (£49.99) and Windows 7 Professional (£99.99)
France and Germany: Windows 7 Home Premium (€49.99) and Windows 7 Professional (€109.99)

The preorder will start from tomorrow in US, Canada and Japan while the aforementioned European countries’ preorder start from July 15. Microsoft has made it clear that the preorder licenses are limited and will be made available till stock lasts or will be stopped on July 11 in US, Canada and Japan while till August 14 in Europe.

For users not preordering or missing the preorder, the upgrade will be available on Vista and XP licenses. The Home Premium will go for $119.99, Professional for $199.99 and Ultimate for $219.99. EU won’t get any upgrade but instead Microsoft will be selling full versions at upgrade price.

Also, consumers buying a PC after June 26 from participating OEMs, they will be eligible for a free upgrade when Windows 7 launches. A Windows Vista Home Premium user will get a free upgrade to 7 Home Premium or Vista Business will get 7 Professional.

Finally the retail versions of Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate are priced at $199.99, $299.99 and $319.99 respectively.

May I dare ask, why us Indians are not getting the low-priced upgrade? This is disappointing. When Chinese will hear the news, they will try to get the pirated copes even more. All of the efforts of Microsoft to stop the Chinese from using a pirated copy of their OS will go down the drain!
