Intel and Nokia have announced their partnership that includes more than supplying mobile chips to Nokia. Their ‘long-term relationship’ involves developing a whole new class of Intel Architecture based computing devices that will harness the power of computing prowess as well as mobile broadband communications. The new age devices are promised to be beyond smartphones, laptops or netbooks.
Intel will also license Nokia’s HSPA/3G Modem IP that will enable them to implement in all of its mobility offerings in the future.
Both the companies have also agreed to collaborate and cooperate in their respective open source projects, namely Moblin for Intel and Maemo for Nokia. It will be a joint effort to produce common technologies for both the platforms that will help to provide seamless experience in the future mobile computing devices.
