Taiwan based Elan Microelectronics has sued the Cupertino giant for the alleged use of multitouch technology in Macbook, iPhone and iPod Touch.
Elan and Apple were in talks for over two years but the non agreement of licensing terms led Elan to file a case against the iPod maker.
Though Elan has not divulged the remedial action, it is more or less clear that they want a small pie from the huge profits Apple is making by selling these products. Apple posted $1.61 billion earnings in the last quarter alone.
An analyst claims Elan’s previous victory over Synaptics which resulted in an out of court settlement is one of the reasons they are taking its chances with Apple.
