We already knew Research in Motion had plans to open their own app store but now their plans look more concrete with the announcement of the official name and the developer’s page going live. The Blackberry App World follows the same funda – allows users to buy and install apps and games from a centralized location while developers try to make some money from their paid apps.
In other related news, RIM has set the first paid pricing tier for apps to $2.99. Now that’s like 3 times more you would pay for a paid app on Apple’s App Store but maybe RIM has a perception that suited execs using Blackberrys won’t mind shelling the extra bills for a business device.
Developers page is live now whereas Blackberry users need to sign up for further announcement of the store.
