
Apple announced the new Mac Pro today that will be powered by Nehalem based Intel Xeon processors. Mac Pro’s price has been lowered by $300 while the performance has been doubled over its predecessor. Starting from $2,499, the base specs include a single 2.66GHz Quad-core Xeon processor, 3GB RAM, 640GB HDD, Nvidia GeForce GT120 with 512MB of GDDR3 memory, 18X SuperDrive, 4 PCI Express slots, 5 USB ports, Bluetooth 2.1 and Mini DisplayPort and DVI ports for easy plugging into Apple’s Cinema displays.
The 8-core (two Quad-core Xeons) Mac Pro is priced at $3,299 and offers the same specs except a bump in RAM to 6GB.
Mac Pros will be available in US from next week.
