With 10-inch netbooks becoming the predominant size in the netbook market, Asus is planning to completely phase out the 8.9-inch Eee PC variant. Benson Lin, President, Asustek Asia-Pacific has confirmed to Digitimes that this will be the last year for consumers to get their hands on 8.9-inch Eee PCs. Asus’ 2009 shipments suggest that 95% of Eee PCs will be 10-inchers while the rest will be 7-inch models shipped specially for service industries like the telecom service operators.
