According to a report by ThinkEquity Partners, Apple is gobbling down quantities of NAND flash memory which could jack up the flash memory prices. Apple’s craze to get their hands on the memory has apparently resulted buying all the Samsung’s memory inventory up to April 2009.
Though it could be a boon to the flash memory makers in this recessionary times but Apple’s move suggests that something else is in store for us. Apple’s iPhone release cycle has been previously mentioned in June, so such massive buying could be to corner flash chips for the new iPhone or maybe nothing than to hedge themselves against future shortage or fluctuating prices.
