Despite a ‘huge gathering’ at the campus of Sri Venkateshwara University Tirupati, we are still left with the pictures of the world’s cheapest laptop. Anyways, the Union Minister for HRD, Arjun Singh today revealed the laptop which was jointly developed by the University Grants Commission, the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras and the Indian Institute of Science. The laptop will be priced in between Rs. 500 – Rs. 1000 ($10-20).
The laptop was demonstrated at the event but will be fine tuned before it hits the market within 6 months. Full specs are yet to be confirmed but there’s 2GB onboard memory, Wi-Fi and will consume less power.
The laptop is a part of National Mission on Education through ICT which will help to impart education to students and improve their skills.
