UPDATE:Eurogamer is reporting that NFS: Shift will be available on PC as well as PSP. A fourth ‘secret’ installment is also in the works which I think will be the same across all platforms.
Need for Speed’s continuous downfall made many believe that Undercover would be last title of this amazing racing series. But according to the latest strategy adopted by EA, the NFS series will live by targeting different audiences on different gaming platforms. There will be three NFS games coming out this year – Need for Speed Shift for PS3 and Xbox 360, a car simulator; Need for Speed World Online for PC which will be a multiplayer action-online game and the arcadish Need for Speed Nitro for Wii and DS.
This move is an interesting one but I feel this could divide the NFS gaming community. A PC gamer may want to have a car simulator and that will be only possible if he buys a PS3 or an Xbox or vice versa.
I hope EA has devised a strategy for this too.
