Macrumors has unearthed something unusual which points us to the next version of iPhone. The latest 2.2.1 firmware carried a new product code for iPhone, classified as ‘iPhone 2,1’. As most of you’ll must be unaware that Apple uses this code to distinguish iPhone, iPhone 3G and two generations of iPod Touch.
The original iPhone was denoted as ‘iPhone 1,1’, iPhone 3G as ‘iPhone 1,2’, firs gen iPod Touch as ‘iPod 1,1’ and new iPod Touch as ‘iPod 2,1’. We already know that the new iPod Touch integrates a faster processor, so does that mean the next gen iPhone to be given the same processor bump? Maybe, maybe not.
