Via’s been in the news because of its Nano processor giving Intel’s Atom a run for its money. But in another revelation, Via’s VP of Corporate marketing confessed to Custom PC that they’ll not be manufacturing third party chipsets in the future. This move comes after the increasing costs because of changing and adapting to new architectures, licensing issues and also because of the competition from the processor manufacturing companies who indulge in selling entire platforms rather than individual components.
Via will be concentrating in churning out better versions of their own processors and also continue to develop chipsets for the same just like its couterparts, Intel and AMD.
