Not so magical but the smart guys at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) have developed a glove which can communicate with the 3D images on the screen to give user a real feeling of touching or shaking hands. This tangible 3D system uses a 3D display developed by NTT and dual cameras fitted to track the hand’s movements from every possible angle. The cameras then convert this into 3D image and displays on the screen in real-time. More accuracy and realness is achieved after the computer adapts to the user’s hand position and size.
The invention is somewhat unusual but NTT is optimistic about the advantages it can offer. According to them, this system can be used in museums to feel the artifacts and fossils placed in a closed enclosure or also can be used for virtual classrooms.
