Music players for deaf people? It may sound some type of joke, but in fact its true. Samsung has teamed up with Advanced Bionics to develop a chip which can make deaf people listen to audio signals. This phenomenon will be achieved by a cochlear implant. This implant comprises of a processor which has to be worn outside the ear by the recipient (right) and a chip (left) which is implanted into the person’s skull. Now the processor picks up audio signals and converts them into digital data which is then converted into electrical impulses by the embedded processor.
The electrodes receive these impulses and stimulates a nerve in the brain which creates music. This process easily bypasses the damaged tissue and helps a deaf person enjoy music just like a person with hearing abilities.
