Up until now, the only way to enjoy Google Play services on Barnes & Noble’s Nook tablets was to root it and install the APKs. Now Barnes & Noble have officially opened the flood gates by allowing the Google Play services on the Nook HD and the Nook HD+ tablets.
Google Play will be available to all Nook HD and Nook HD+ users in US and UK via an over-the-air update from today, giving access to over 700,000 apps and games in addition to B&N’s store.
This move makes Barnes & Noble offerings go head to head with Google’s Nexus tablets as well as Amazon Kindle Fire tablets that rely on their own app store.
The Nook HD is priced from $199 while the Nook HD+ starts from $269.
