For the tablets, Google unveiled a new firmware update at the developer-centric Google I/O event. The new Honeycomb 3.1 update will bring lots of new features to the tablets, starting with the Motorola Xoom for Verizon today. The update brings resizable homescreen widgets; USB host that can transfer content from mobile phones, camera directly to the tablet and power various USB accessories; movie rental and Music service support; Movie Studio video editing app, improved performance and more.
Google hasn’t confirmed as to when other Honeycomb tablets will get the new update but considering Galaxy Tab 10.1 – that was given at the Google I/O – has an update due in couple of weeks, we can expect the update to hit other Honeycomb tablets around the same time.
