Apple Inc. has filed a suit against Samsung Electronics saying the Korean giant’s Galaxy devices like Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab infringe on a number of the company’s patents and trademarks.

Apple has blatantly accused Samsung of copying iPhone and iPad’s hardware design as well as the user interface. To prove their point further, Apple has also attached some pictures showing the similarity between the devices and the software.

“It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging.”

On the other hand, Samsung has also confirmed that a counterclaim is in order after a proper review of the lawsuit. Samsung’s spokesperson says that Apple infringes their wireless technology patents and might countersue the iPhone maker on the same grounds.

“We think Apple has violated our patents in communications standards. We are considering a counterclaim.”

Needless to say it will be an interesting courtroom battle to watch as Apple is fighting a competitor in the mobile devices space but also happens to be one of the largest buyer of Samsung hardware like memory, flash memory etc.
